Instead of having to purchase the two separately, you’ll soon be able to pilot an official GoPro aerial drone-mounted camera.
Contain Your Frenzy, Fans
The release of the GoPro drone is not a foolproof business decision on the part of the GoPro company. As it stands, roughly a tenth of all GoPros are used in camera drone configurations these days, and several drone manufacturers have catered to this crowd through accessories and marketing themes. 3D Robotics sported the GoPro label on one of their lines. and rumors have it that DJI and GoPro were negotiating terms for a possible joint project.

The full feature set of the quadcopter has yet to be released, but we can expect more pieces of information to slip out over the next few months.

None of us really want to buy something based on the name alone, but GoPro has already demonstrated that it can pack powerful technology into a small package. Putting a drone under their brand logo means that it is effectively a new accessory for the GoPro, designed exclusively by tgohe company who knows the camera best. If they treat it with the same care they’ve shown elsewhere, you can hope for a smart aerial companion that can hover behind you and catch an over the shoulder view for the perfect shot of the mountain trails and city streets trying to take you on. The release of the GoPro drone is set for some time before next July, so go out and practice your moves to get ready for it.
