Apple users have found themselves dealing with a new nuisance over the course of the past few months: calendar spam. Unwanted invitations from users they don’t know have been plaguing those using the iCloud calendar since about last November. Luckily, there are ways to take down your calendar spam without notifying the spammer that your account is active and getting even more spam as a result.

First thing, though. Do not accept or decline the invite. Doing so only lets the spammer know that your account is active.

Removing the Spam Invites

If you want to remove the spam without notifying the spammer that your account is active and potentially getting even more spam, then you need to follow these steps:

1. Open the Calendar app and tap “Calendars” at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the Edit button, and when it takes you to the next screen tap “Add Calendar.”
3. Name the calendar something recognizable like “Spam.”
4. Move each spam invite on your calendar to the Spam calendar.

If you wish to remove the invites from your account completely, you can delete the entire calendar at the end. Tap the “Calendars” screen, then the “i” next to the spam calendar. Then tap delete.

Stopping Invitations from Spammer Accounts

If you want to take things a step further, you can keep spammers from sending you additional invitations by following these easy directions:

1. Log into iCloud and open Calendars on your desktop or laptop.
2. Click the little gear and choose “Preferences.”
3. Choose Advanced, scroll down to “Invitations,” and then add the spammer to the list

This prevents future calendar invitations from that account.
